Flynt Schuring started the second race of the Zandvoort weekend from second on the grid. Initially, the Porsche Junior, racing for Schumacher CLRT, had to settle in behind Jaap van Lagen. The Dutchman from the Martinet by Alméras team had started from pole position. Shortly after a safety car period, the experienced driver made a minor mistake. Schuring capitalised on this to make the decisive overtaking move. He then easily pulled away from the chasing pack. After 17 laps of the 4.259-kilometre Formula 1 circuit, he had built up a lead of just under seven seconds.
Behind van Lagen, second overall Robert de Haan crossed the finish line in third place. Consequently, the BWT Lechner Racing driver lost his last chance to catch up with Schuring in the final at Monza. Theo Oeverhaus (Martinet by Alméras) and Wouter Boerekamps (Team GP Elite), originally fourth and fifth respectively, lost their positions post-race due to time penalties.
These decisions handed fourth place to Jack Young. Racing for the Italian team Target, the Briton celebrated his first ever Rookie victory. He came out on top against his compatriot Liam McNeilly (Ombra Racing) and the Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (Team GP Elite). Chester Kieffer from Luxembourg (Schumacher CLRT) continues to lead the Supercup’s Rookie championship.
Marcus Amand, the second Porsche Junior, remained among the chasing pack for much of the race. However, the BWT Lechner Racing driver dropped back in the closing stages after a spin.
Jacques Villeneuve’s season as a guest driver in the Supercup came to an end at Zandvoort. The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion contested a total of six races with starting number 911. The VIP car fielded by Porsche Motorsport competed in the Canadian’s iconic helmet design. “The level in the Supercup is very high. I struggled in qualifying and therefore always had to start from the back of the grid. My pace in the races was good – but by then it was too late. The Supercup family gave me an extremely warm welcome. I really enjoyed this season,” Villeneuve summarised.
“Congratulations to Flynt Schuring on winning the 2026 Supercup title! With three wins from seven races so far, he is a worthy champion. Now I’m keen to see who will clinch the Rookie and the Teams’ title. We’re certainly in for an exciting finale,” commented Oliver Schwab, Project Manager Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
The last race of the season will take place at Monza supporting the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix. Over the weekend of 4–6 September 2026, the Supercup’s Rookie and Teams’ championships will be decided.
Driver comments after the race
Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring (NLD/Schumacher CLRT), 1st place: “I’m lost for words. Of course, I’d always dreamed of winning the Supercup. But to win the title at my home race, in front of my whole family, far exceeds that dream. I’d say today was one of my best races ever.”
Jaap van Lagen (NLD/Martinet by Alméras), 2nd place: “Congratulations to Flynt on winning the title, even though he took the victory from me in the final Supercup race at Zandvoort. At the crucial moment, we both swerved to avoid an object on the track. Flynt chose the better line. On the dirty side of the track, I couldn’t accelerate properly.”
Jack Young (GBR/Target), winner of the Rookie classification: “Of course, I’m very happy with my first rookie victory. Starting from third on the grid, I think I could have achieved even more today. My aim was to make it onto the overall podium. However, I changed the set-up after qualifying. Unfortunately, that went in the wrong direction.”
