Maiden victory for rookie Chester Kieffer in action-packed race

After 20 laps, Luxembourg’s Chester Kieffer (Schumacher CLRT) was the first to take the chequered flag on Sunday. Behind the 20-year-old Talent Pool driver, Porsche Junior Marcus Amand (FIN/Forch Racing by Atlas Ward) and Sam Jongejan (NL/Team75 Bernhard) completed the podium. The title contenders became embroiled in close battles for position, and the championship remains wide open ahead of the season finale in Hockenheim (9–11 October): Keagan Masters (ZA/Proton Competition) leads the standings with 210 points, ahead of Flynt Schuring (NL/Schumacher CLRT, 203 points), Alexander Tauscher (D/Target, 186 points) and Theo Oeverhaus (D/ID Racing, 183 points). A maximum of 50 points are still up for grabs in the two remaining races.

Spectators in the Nürburgring grandstands were treated to plenty of action during the 30-minute Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland race as part of the DTM weekend. Title contender Tauscher started from pole position but lost the lead to Kieffer after just a few metres. On the second lap, an incident occurred towards the rear of the 32-car field, prompting the deployment of the safety car. The restart with 19 minutes remaining initially went according to plan on the 3.629-kilometre sprint circuit. However, with the field bunched closely together, Tauscher became embroiled in battles for position and was instructed by race control to drop back after an incorrect manoeuvre. With five minutes remaining, Tauscher was running fourth when contact with a rival sent him tumbling to 22nd place. Title contender Oeverhaus was also caught up in the collision, which damaged his car. Behind the leading trio of Kieffer, Amand and Jongejan, championship leader Masters crossed the finish line in fourth. Porsche Junior Schuring secured fifth place ahead of Dirk Schouten (NL/Looping by CarTech). Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (Team GP Elite) finished seventh. Despite the damage to his Porsche 911 Cup, Oeverhaus salvaged eighth place.

“I’m really happy about my first win in the Carrera Cup. Of course, it gives me an extra boost of confidence, and you can always use that,” said race winner Kieffer after the podium ceremony. The rookie also set the fastest lap of the race. At the end of the season, the driver with the most fastest race laps receives the “Fastest Lap Award”, with a “Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition” as the prize. The other podium finishers were also delighted with their results. “Finishing on the podium on both Saturday and Sunday is a good result,” said Porsche Junior Amand. “It’s really nice for me to score my first overall podium. It was a really tough race for me with so much action that I had to stay extremely focused. Now I’m really happy,” said Jongejan. Sören Spreng (D/GP Elite) secured victory in the ProAm classification ahead of Michael Essmann (D/Team75 Bernhard) and Sam Shahin (AUS/GP Elite).

A special Porsche Talent Pool initiative also took place at the Nürburgring. Drivers from the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland visited the Porsche Talent Pool drivers competing in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. Joel Hohmann from Chemnitz, Sweden’s Mads K. Ljungberg, Estonian Ragnar Simuland and Poland’s Nikodem Sobczyk also spent time with teams in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland and accompanied their partner drivers throughout the race weekend. “It was really impressive for me to be involved in all the activities. I received a lot of tips and now I’m going to pursue a big dream: I want to race in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland as well,” said Hohmann, who spent the weekend with Team GP Elite. Ljungberg agreed: “I learned an incredible amount during these days together. The drivers come from countries all over the world to compete in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, and that really says everything about the appeal and strength of this racing series.”

The weekend also featured the world premiere of a special car as part of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. In 2027, the Nürburgring will celebrate its 100th anniversary. For decades, Porsche has achieved motorsport successes and records at the circuit. At the same time, the racetrack has long played an integral role in the testing of production cars. Porsche Deutschland is honouring this special connection with a special-edition model: the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring captures the fascination of the Eifel circuit through numerous exterior and interior details. A total of 100 cars will be available for the German market and will be handed over to customers in the anniversary year of 2027.

“We had a very eventful race weekend at the Nürburgring. With the world premiere of the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring, the visit from the Talent Pool drivers of the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland, a packed paddock that even featured a Porsche carousel, and our action-packed races, there was certainly plenty going on. The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland champion will not be decided until the season finale, so the excitement will continue right to the end,” summarised Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.

The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will contest its season finale from 9 to 11 October. Races 15 and 16 at the Hockenheimring will decide who will ultimately be crowned the 2026 Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland champion.
