The programme was transferred to Formula E for the first time in the 2025/2026 racing season. The Porsche Formula E Team raised 400 euros for each race lap completed. Since its first edition at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023, donations have totalled almost three million euros. As in previous years, Porsche rounded up the final amount.
“Porsche wants to give something back to society. That is why, with Racing for Charity, we support seriously ill children worldwide,” says Dr. Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche AG. “Our factory team fought in Formula E not only for World Championship titles, but also for the highest possible donation amount.”
The funds go to three non-profit organisations: Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V. and the Ferry Porsche Foundation. “Kinderherzen retten” enables life-saving heart operations in Germany for children from countries where specialised medical treatment is not available. Interplast Germany gives children in developing and emerging countries with severe burns, injuries or congenital deformities access to reconstructive operations and medical care. The Ferry Porsche Foundation promotes social cohesion and equal opportunities for children and young people.
The children helped include two-year-old Rashid from Tanzania. A malformation and tumorous changes to his hand and forearm limited his quality of life. Reconstructive operations by Interplast Germany preserved his arm and improved its function. “Kinderherzen retten” changed the life of Amy from El Salvador: doctors at the Freiburg heart clinic operated on her septal heart defect when she was eight months old. Her development had been impaired before. Today, Amy is a healthy girl full of life.
Formula E also supported the initiative during the recently completed season. At the Berlin E-Prix in May, the all-electric World Championship made an additional donation of 25,000 euros through its “Better Futures Fund”. With this programme, the all-electric series supports charitable organisations and projects in the host countries of its races.
The two Porsche factory drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller completed 1,123 laps across the 17 races. “Racing for Charity was an extra motivation for Pascal and me,” says Swiss driver Müller. “Whenever we could not score World Championship points, every lap still counted. We are both fathers and can therefore identify even more with the initiative. We wish the organisations every success in their work.”
Porsche in Formula E
Porsche contested its seventh Formula E season in 2025/2026. Alongside the Porsche factory team, US customer team Andretti Formula E ran the latest-generation GEN3 Evo Porsche 99X Electric. Cupra Kiro took part as a second Porsche customer team, using 99X technology from the previous GEN3 generation. In Formula E, the brand gains valuable insights for its production sports cars.
